Poem - Essay ExampleThe verse form can be taken to be a sort of ode to the womens liberation movement. It is ab give away a woman who does not fall what is expected, but rather marches to the beat of her own drum. A woman, who is dubbed as crazy, because she is not one to look out societal rules, is the subject of this verse form. This poem is written by an African American woman that factor causes this poem to carry even more meaning, as now we see someone who is burdened doubly by the society, both for being African-American and for being a woman, and yet she is brave enough to cast rules divagation and live her career according to her own whims and desires. The fact that she terms those who stare at her odd shipway as little people is testament to the fact of her low opinion regarding them. This is, indeed a sightly piece of work that relates, in a few lines the experience of a woman who wants to live life at her own terms. I found it to be very refreshing, as we live in a world where people often obey societal rules unquestioningly, to have someone who does not do so gives me hope that there will always be people who will question the status quo of things. par Maya Angelou Maya Angelous poem Equality talks about, as is apparent from its title, equality. In this poem, she is trying to make out a case for those who are oppressed, as they call out and profess their desire to be considered equal. This poem can have a twofold meaning.
